Frente Insular de la Reserva Marina de Galápagos
At Uniquely Galapagos, responsible travel means actively supporting the protection of the islands we call home.
Since July 2021, our founder Brett Peters has partnered with Frente Insular de la Reserva Marina de Galápagos, led by Alberto Andrade, to help combat plastic pollution and support community-led conservation initiatives across the Galápagos Islands.
Through this collaboration, our team has participated in more than 25 coastal, urban and rural clean-ups, while also supporting international initiatives addressing plastic pollution in the Eastern Pacific alongside organisations such as the United Nations and the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt.
In 2026, this partnership deepened as Brett joined Frente Insular as Director of Circular Economy and Eco-Tourism, helping advance a shared vision: positioning the Galápagos as a global model for circular economy, regenerative tourism and community-driven conservation.
About Frente Insular
Frente Insular de la Reserva Marina de Galápagos is a community-led movement dedicated to protecting the Galápagos Marine Reserve.
Founded in 2017, the organisation advocates for stronger marine protection and works with local authorities and volunteers to organise regular clean-ups across the islands.
Their efforts have helped raise global awareness around marine conservation in the Galápagos and contributed to the expansion of the reserve announced by President Guillermo Lasso at COP26.
Together, we remain committed to protecting one of the planet’s most extraordinary ecosystems for future generations.
